Titan Skin Tightening FAQ'S

How does the Titan work?
Titan uses a safe, infrared light to cause contraction of existing collagen as well as stimulation of new collagen in the deepest layer of the skin (deep dermis). During this procedure, the skin’s surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling. The contraction of collagen as well as the new collagen growth results in decreased skin laxity and wrinkles.

What areas can be treated?
Loose skin on the face, neck, abdomen, back of the upper arm, inner thighs, above the knees, along the jaw line and under the chin have responded particularly well to the procedure.

Who can be treated?
Men and women of all skin types can be treated with Titan.

How many treatments will I need?
We usually recommend a series of 3 treatments, every 4 weeks. At the time of the consultation we will advise you as to the number and frequency of treatments recommended for optimal results.

What should I expect during the treatment?
Each Titan pulse begins with cooling and then a brief heating sensation and ends with cooling again. Many patients have no problem tolerating the procedure, but some are more comfortable using topical numbing or taking a mild pain reliever beforehand.

How long will the Titan treatment take?
The actual treatment time depends on what area and how many areas are being treated. In general, one area will take between 30 to 60 minutes to treat.

Is there any downtime?
There is no significant downtime with Titan. Immediately following the treatment, you may notice some redness and mild swelling in the treated area. This will dissipate in 30 to 60 minutes.

When will I see results?
Some patients see results immediately. However, for other patients, the results are gradual over a three to six month period as new collagen is formed and the skin tightens.

How does Titan compare to Thermage?
Thermage uses radio frequency (RF). This is a longer wave length that can travel through the skin and into the layer of fat. This can lead to fat necrosis and a dimpled appearance of the skin. Thermage is more painful than Titan, often requiring anesthesia or a nerve block.

Titan uses an infrared (IR) light which provides a uniform distribution of energy in the skin. It is less painful than Thermage and has a higher satisfaction rate among patients treated. Over 90% of patients are satisfied with their Titan treatments, as opposed to only 30% satisfaction rate with Thermage.
